2004 ~ Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Boondall
The night Corporate Queensland
took the rock world by storm!
Queensland
corporate heavy weights threw off their working day shackles to become
rock legends for a night at the second annual Conrad Treasury Boardroom
Blitz on October 9.
From the time the Rock ‘n Roll Express departed Roma Street Station
for Boondall until the last guest left the Conrad Treasury After Party,
corporate Queensland rocked Brisbane!
The Brisbane Entertainment Centre was transformed into a world where
rock ruled. The Red Carpet Extravaganza saw everyday people become rock
stars as they mingled with celebrities, and screaming fans sought autographs
and photos with their one-night-only idols.
Once inside the venue, eleven corporate bands entertained the hundreds
of guests who turned up ready to party!
Companies who signed up bands to bring down the house were Conrad Treasury,
Brumby’s Bakeries, Cutting Edge, Ergon Energy, BreakFree Resorts, Allens
Arthur Robinson, A to Z Mortgages, Ellaways Music, Roche Mining and
Super Cheap Auto.
The Cerebral Palsy League was also represented by talented staff members
who formed “League of Extraordinary Rockers” for the occasion.
The night was hosted by Australian Idol's Mark Holden who did a fantastic
job of keeping the audience entertained in between sets.
The Aussie music legend even got off the stage to walk the floor singing
a Beatles classic, with the Judging Panel, including League CEO Bruce
“Mullet” Milligan acting as back-ups singers.
Also on the Judging Panel were Ray Smith (Cutting Edge), Mike Goldman
(“Big Brother Up Late”), Jade Jones (Triple M) and Natalie Cook (Olympic
Gold Medallist).
Cutting Edge’s “Fair Warning” took out two awards: Judge’s Pick (first
place) and Best Stage Presence. To ensure a fair decision was reached,
Mr Smith sat out of these deliberations.
Other place winners were Conrad Treasury’s “Ever Surprising” who took
out Tried and True Number Two and Brumby’s Bakeries “Grateful Bread”
who won Preferred Third. Best Rock Moves again went to Roche Mining’s
“Trash Screen”.
This year's trial SMS voting Crowd Pick went to Super Cheap Auto’s “SC/AB”.
In addition to the corporate bands, guests were treated to performances
by Glen Shorrock and his Little River Band, who opened the night with
a couple of classic songs and then headed back to Conrad Treasury to
rock the After Party.
Other special guests included Normie Rowe and Ty Noonan from Brisbane
band “George”, who teamed up to sing a duet which was auctioned to raise
funds for the League.
